Culture Strand
The Creative Europe Programme comprises three strands:
-
the CULTURE Strand, which covers all sectors of culture and creation (with the exception of the audiovisual and cinematographic sectors);
-
the MEDIA Strand, which covers the audiovisual and cinematographic sectors;
-
the CROSS-SECTORAL Strand, which promotes collaboration between the creative sectors and covers the media sector.
The Culture Strand is intended to co-finance projects in the cultural and creative areas and in all artistic expressions (except exclusively audiovisual or cinematographic projects, which are supported through the MEDIA Strand).
The Culture Strand includes the following actions:
-
Horizontal actions covering all cultural and creative sectors: support for cultural cooperation projects, networks of professional organisations, platforms for the promotion of European artists and works, and an individual mobility programme;
-
Specific sectoral support to complement horizontal actions in the sectors of music, books and publishing, cultural heritage, and architecture, among other sectors;
-
Special actions designed to reward and promote excellence and creativity, such as the prizes awarded in the fields of literature, music, architecture, and cultural heritage, the European Capitals of Culture, and the European Heritage Label.
The main new features of the CULTURE strand include:
-
Easier access to Creative Europe funding thanks to higher co-financing rates;
-
Actions geared towards sectoral needs in the fields of music, literature, architecture, cultural heritage, design, fashion and cultural tourism;
-
A greater emphasis on European transnational creation, the circulation of works, and innovation in the cultural and creative sectors;
-
A personalized mobility program for artists and professionals.
